Favorite Greek Myths Hardcover – May 1, 1989

I’ve been searching for this book for years. I first came across this book in 1992 and fell in love with it’s beautiful pictures and stories. When I had a child I read it to him, sadly the book became lost 15 years ago but my now adult son loved it so much I tracked it down and bought two, one for both of us. If you love stories of mythology and beautiful illustrations, this book is for you!

I purchased this book for my daughter who is going into seventh grade. It was one choice for her summer reading. She loved it.It gave her a good understanding of the Greek gods and their powers.

Great for kids 2nd through 4th grades----basic stories, with imaginative and colorful illustrations, of several Greek myths.Wonderful intro to Greek mythology.

My daughter is 9 and we are Pagan, so I am particularly interested in teaching her about the ancient Greek view of the gods and goddesses.In this book, the story of Persephone's marriage to Hades is the most sexist version I have ever read, and does nothing to flesh out Persephone's character. The other stories are nice enough, though again, the sexism of ancient Greece it pretty glaring in some of them. I understand Mary Pope Osborne worked with original source material, so her goals as a writer are certainly different from mine as a Pagan homeschooler.I would have appreciated if the Greek names of the gods were used, rather than the Roman ones, since this is a Greek myth book. Also, a pronunciation guide would be nice. We bought this book because we LOVE Mary Pope Osborne's The Odyssey (Tales from The Odyssey Part 1 and Part 2). I recommend that instead.

My kids love Greek mythology and this book does not disappoint!

All these books are out of print, and hard to find new. gave to my grand son for Christmas because he loves this writer.

My 9 year old daughter loves this book, she is really into greek mythology.

Lovely book, beautiful illustrations

Don't like how it uses Roman names. Confusing for children.
